Fall shopping doesn’t have to mean a cart full of “70% off” items that were never really that price. Every piece below had a live deal on Amazon when we checked it on September 30, was sold by Amazon.com, comes from a brand you’ll recognize, and has thousands of reviews behind it. We skipped anything whose discount only held up against an inflated list price. Here’s how we check.

Layers

Before you buy
- Check the live price. Deals on clothing change often, sometimes by size and color. The shop and Amazon always show the current price.
- Read the size notes. Clothing ratings are pulled down by fit more than by quality, so check the size chart and the “fit” comments in the reviews.
- No rush on basics. Everyday items like these often go on sale again around Black Friday, November 27. If a price isn’t a clear low, it’s fine to wait.
